When the stage becomes a warning: Tricked and Scammed!

How quickly a harmless ring at the doorbell, an urgent phone call, or a message in a messenger can turn into a dangerous trap is shown in the play Tricked and Scammed! on October 22, 2026, at the Bürgerschaftshaus Bocklemünd/Mengenich in Cologne. The senior theater group Chorweiler presents current trick theft and fraud schemes with short, realistic scenes on stage.

Everyday Relevance with Dramatic Impact

Seven amateur actresses aged 60 to 80 visibly demonstrate how cunning fraudsters operate. As fake police officers, craftsmen, supposed relatives, or skilled phone scammers, they rely on time pressure, trust, and insecurity. The production combines theatrical art with concrete prevention and develops an immersive stage experience from familiar everyday situations.

Drama Between Tension and Education

The direction leads the audience into situations that could arise at their own doorstep, on the phone, or on their smartphones at any moment. The short scenes use immediate language and clear role models. This creates a theater atmosphere that does not maintain distance but compels attention: The audience's reaction often begins where the seemingly familiar suddenly tips over.

Five Fraud Schemes in the Spotlight

At the center are fake craftsmen at the door, shock calls, fraud by false police officers, messenger fraud via WhatsApp, and false prize promises. The production not only shows the mechanisms of the perpetrators but also conveys practical ways to recognize and ward off fraud attempts early.

Theater as Protection and Conversation Starter

After the performance, the criminal prevention team of the Cologne police will be available for discussions. Visitors receive concrete advice on protection against fraud and can ask questions about situations that affect themselves or their relatives. Thus, the stage action expands into an informative follow-up discussion with immediate benefits for everyday life.

Conclusion: An Important Stage Experience for Generation 60+ and Relatives

Tricked and Scammed! combines engaged theater, social responsibility, and practical education. The audience can expect a compact, understandable, and compelling performance with realistic scenes and expert advice afterward. Admission is free, registration is required.
