When the Grummel-Brummel Runs Out of Energy
A face like seven days of rain, an empty coffee cup, and a crucial question: What is energy, anyway? With the scientific experience theatre New Energy for the Grummel-Brummel, the City Library of Cologne will kick off the ninth edition of the MINT Festival MINTköln on October 16, 2026.
A Theatrical Journey Through the World of Energy
The focus is on the Grummel-Brummel, who has lost his energy and is hardly cheered up by his friend Jouli. Between stage action, playful knowledge transfer, and humorous moments, a stage experience arises that makes scientific questions directly tangible: Where can energy be found, how does it change its form, and what connects it with good or bad moods?
Science Becomes Stage Art
The scientific theatre ACTeFact combines the art of acting with vivid dramaturgy. The production translates abstract concepts into a lively theatrical situation and invites the audience to not only understand energy but also to discover it with all their senses. Curiosity, movement, and joy of shared thinking are at the heart of this presentation.
Theatrical Atmosphere for Curious Minds
The performance is aimed at all age groups from 0 to 99 years and opens the theatre space as a place for researching, marveling, and participating. The play with characters, questions, and situations creates an accessible connection between MINT topics and cultural experiences. Thus, the library becomes a stage and the audience becomes part of an unusual research journey.
Kick-Off of the MINTköln 2026 Festival
The event marks the beginning of MINTköln 2026, which will explore mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology from a creative perspective from October 16 to 31 in Cologne. Under the festival theme Everything in Motion, workshops, experience theatre, and participatory offerings come together. New Energy for the Grummel-Brummel sets the first theatrical impulse for this.
Conclusion: An Energy-Filled Stage Experience for the Whole Family
Anyone wanting to combine science with humor, theatrical atmosphere, and shared discovery will experience a special festival kickoff at the interim of the central library. The Grummel-Brummel is waiting for new energy – and the audience is invited to find out where it lies. Admission is free; prior registration is recommended.
