Repair Café in Porz: Repair together instead of throwing away
When the toaster fails, the floor lamp stays dark, or another electronic household appliance no longer works, a visit to the Repair Café at the Porz district library is worthwhile. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, practical help, sustainable consumption, and collective learning will be at the center.
Broken everyday devices get a second chance
The Repair Café supports visitors in making defective electronic household appliances functional again. Often, a small cause or missing know-how is behind a failure. Instead of hastily disposing of something, a sustainable event experience with visible results is created on-site.
Sustainability meets collective learning
The event clearly shows how the lifespan of everyday items can be extended and waste can be avoided. In a relaxed event atmosphere, people engage in conversation, share knowledge, and experience how a defective device can become a useful companion again.
Organization and registration
The Repair Café is made possible by the commitment of the ErfinderClub IWIS Köln e. V. The event is held in cooperation with the SeniorenNetzwerk Porz. Four time slots are available for event planning: from 10:30 to 11:15, from 11:15 to 12, from 12 to 12:45, and from 12:45 to 13:30. Prior registration for one of the time slots via the booking system is required.
Good accessibility and barrier-free equipment
The Porz district library is located at Alfred-Moritz-Platz 1. It is accessible by tram line 7 and bus lines 152, 154, 160, 161, and 162 to the Porz-Markt stop. Designated disabled parking spaces and a passenger elevator are available. The entrance and restrooms are limited accessible for wheelchair users; wheelchair access is through a side entrance.
Conclusion: Repair, conserve resources, connect people
The Repair Café in Porz combines practical support with sustainable action and personal exchange. Visitors can expect a lively event experience, where new possibilities arise from broken devices. Those who wish to repair instead of throwing away can now secure a suitable time slot and experience sustainable help on-site.
