Mobile Filming in Cologne: Telling cinematic stories with a smartphone
How does a quick phone video become a consciously designed film scene? The Makerspace workshop Mobile Filming shows teenagers and adults how to use their smartphone cameras more effectively and develop aesthetically demanding recordings with simple means.
Getting more out of the smartphone camera
In the workshop, participants receive a technical introduction to the camera functions of modern phones. The focus is also on the free app Open Camera, which offers additional possibilities for mobile film production.
Image composition instead of just holding it up
Good recordings arise from conscious decisions: Perspective, composition, and camera technique shape the effect of a scene. The workshop conveys the basics for a more attentive design and makes it visible how exciting film images can arise from everyday motifs.
Practical event experience in the Makerspace
The event takes place in the workshop room on the third floor of the Interim of the Central Library. The open Makerspace atmosphere combines technical learning with hands-on experimentation. This creates a practical event experience for everyone who wants to work creatively with their smartphones and implement their video ideas more professionally.
Organization and target audience
The event is part of the Makerspace program of the Cologne City Library. The concept is aimed at people who want to become actively involved, learn new techniques, and develop their own projects. Registration via the booking system is required for participation.
Conclusion: Mobile Filming provides compact foundations for better smartphone films and combines technical introduction with creative image design. Those who want to plan their phone videos more consciously and implement them more effectively will experience a free workshop with direct practical relevance in Cologne.
