Discover Video Editing: Creative Makerspace Workshop in Cologne
On Thursday, October 22, 2026, the Interim Central Library Cologne opens the door to the world of video and audio editing. The free Makerspace workshop Introduction to Video Editing provides youth and adults with hands-on knowledge of the basics of DaVinci Resolve and modern media design.
From Raw Material to Finished Clip
The focus is on the basic functions of the editing software DaVinci Resolve. Participants will learn how cuts work, why they determine the impact of a video, and where they can be used most effectively. Step by step, individual recordings will come together to create a coherent, rhythmic, and visually harmonious film.
Good Sound and Practical Exercises
In addition to video editing, sound quality also plays an important role. The workshop provides helpful tips for better sound and incorporates practical exercises. Those who wish to further develop their own projects may bring their own editing software on a laptop. Personal footage should be stored in a cloud beforehand, as USB sticks and external hard drives cannot be connected on site.
Makerspace Atmosphere in the Central Library
The event is part of the Makerspace program of the Cologne City Library. It focuses on hands-on experimentation, digital media skills, and collaborative learning. The organization combines clear event planning with an open target audience approach: the workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to not just watch videos but also create them.
Important Notes for Attendance
The workshop will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the workshop room on the 3rd floor of the Interim Central Library. Participation is free, but registration through the city library's booking system is required. Personal headphones with a standard jack can be brought; headphones will also be available on site if needed.
Conclusion: Take Media Design into Your Own Hands
The introduction to video editing offers a compact and practice-oriented entry into editing, audio, and digital film production. Those who want to turn their own ideas into moving images and get to know DaVinci Resolve will experience an accessible workshop in Cologne with direct benefits for personal and creative projects.
