A picture book opens the door to new worlds
On Friday, October 23, 2026, ReadingWorlds invites children aged 3 and up to a cozy storytelling session at the Nippes district library. Picture book stories provide young listeners with shared time, children's laughter, and plenty of room for imagination.
Reading with pictures, voices, and feeling
When a story begins, children's own images arise in their minds: characters come to life, adventures unfold, and curious questions find their place. The picture book stories are age-appropriate for the 3 years and up group and invite listening, looking, and engaging.
Reading pleasure as an important learning experience
ReadingWorlds is the reading initiative of the Cologne Volunteer Agency. Regular storytelling sessions playfully encourage listening, understanding, picture reading, and later also letter reading, according to the organizer. Through dialogic reading, children also develop linguistic and social skills.
A family experience in the heart of Nippes
The Nippes district library is a lively place for reading, learning, and staying awhile. Families experience a calm, protected atmosphere where children can unleash their curiosity and discover literature without performance pressure. This strengthens the joy of books and creates valuable shared time.
Well accessible and family-friendly
The event takes place in the Nippes district library at the district headquarters on Neusser Strasse 450. The entrance area is accessible to wheelchair users, a passenger elevator is available, and marked disabled parking spaces are provided. The Neusser Straße/Gürtel stop is served by the light rail lines 12, 13, and 15.
Conclusion
ReadingWorlds combines reading fun, imagination, and early language support into a warm family experience. Small stories, big feelings, and curious children's eyes make this afternoon a wonderful opportunity to experience literature together live.
