Great Picture Book Stories for Little Explorers
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Reading Worlds invites children aged 3 and up to a cozy reading hour in the children's library of the interim Central Library Cologne. From 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, valuable moments filled with children's laughter, imagination, and shared time will arise while listening, looking, and marveling together.
Reading Opens Doors to New Worlds
Colorful pictures, lovable characters, and exciting stories make the half-hour event a special family experience. Well-known heroes like Findus, Lieselotte, and Zilly are as much a part of the possible program as new and unusual picture books. This way, children experience literature very directly and discover how much joy is in a story.
Age-Appropriate Learning Fun with Educational Value
Reading Worlds is aimed at children aged 3 and up and blends child-friendly entertainment with an important learning experience. While listening, children playfully expand their vocabulary, train attention and language comprehension, and develop their own images in their minds. The joint viewing of the illustrations strengthens curiosity, imagination, and the joy of reading.
Commitment to Language, Diversity, and Community
The reading initiative of the Cologne Volunteer Agency and the city library of Cologne has existed since 2004. Around 50 selected and trained citizens are regularly committed to Cologne's libraries. They take into account different age groups, language barriers, and diverse life worlds. This concept creates an open, safe, and family-friendly space for encounters and development.
Relaxed Family Experience in the Central Library
The reading hour takes place in the children's library on the first floor of the interim Central Library. Participation is free of charge, and no registration is required. Families can enjoy a short break from everyday life together and provide children with a playful access to books, language, and stories.
Conclusion: Immerse Yourself in Stories Together
Reading Worlds combines the joy of reading aloud, language promotion, and shared time into a lovingly designed family experience. Children aged 3 and up discover funny and exciting picture book stories while parents experience a valuable impulse for child development. Mark the date now and discover the magic of reading aloud live in Cologne.
