Stories open doors to new worlds
On Friday, October 30, 2026, Reading Worlds invites families to the Nippes district library. During the picture book stories, children from 3 years old will experience a warm, imaginative afternoon centered around reading aloud, listening, and shared wonder. Admission is free.
Picture book time with children's laughter
When a story begins, the library transforms into a place full of adventures. Children immerse themselves in lovingly told picture book worlds, discover new characters, and let their imaginations run wild. The shared reading time offers families conscious closeness and valuable time together.
Age-appropriate learning experience
Reading Worlds focuses on dialogic reading. In this approach, children are actively involved in the story, encouraged to speak, and supported in their understanding and empathetic listening. This child-friendly method promotes vocabulary, language development, social skills, and emotional attachment to literature.
Reading promotion with educational concept
The reading initiative Reading Worlds of the Cologne Volunteer Agency e. V. has been committed since 2004 to regular reading sessions in Cologne daycare centers, schools, libraries, and museums. Volunteers are trained in dialogic reading and supported through further education. This creates a safe, reliable, and age-appropriate family experience.
Free entry and open for families
The event begins at 5:00 PM and is aimed at children from 3 years old with their accompanying persons. Admission is free. The entrance area of the Nippes district library is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
Look forward to children's laughter, curious questions, and a relaxed reading hour amid beautiful picture books. Reading Worlds connects fun learning, imagination, and community – a small family experience with a big impact.
