When Pictures Bring Stories to Life
On November 5, 2026, the small stage of the Kamishibai storytelling theatre will open at the Ehrenfeld district library. Children aged 3 to 6 will experience a free reading session where language, images, and communal listening combine into a special family experience.
A Storytelling Theatre to Marvel At
A wooden frame with two doors stands ready. As the doors slowly open, the first picture of the story appears, and the narration begins. The changing picture panels provide children with a clear visual access to the plot and stimulate imagination, curiosity, and personal ideas.
Age-Appropriate Learning Fun for Little Listeners
The Kamishibai is designed for children aged 3 to 6. The manageable duration of about 30 minutes fits well with the attention span of young children. While listening, they playfully expand their vocabulary, follow a plot, and discover how pictures make feelings, characters, and situations understandable.
Quality Time in the Library
The reading session invites families to slow down everyday life for a moment. Children's laughter, bright eyes, and the anticipation before the next picture make the event a child-friendly learning experience. Parents observe their children being attentive, curious, and immersed in a communal story.
Practical Information for Families
The event takes place on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Ehrenfeld district library. Admission is free, and registration is not required. The library can be reached by tram lines 5 and 13 as well as bus lines 141 and 143.
Conclusion: A Small Theatre with a Big Impact
The Kamishibai storytelling theatre connects reading, pictures, and imagination in a particularly immediate way. Families can expect a calm, safe, and age-appropriate half-hour full of wonder and learning fun. Note the date and experience together how the doors open to a new story.
