Embarking on Adventure with Pictures, Stories, and Children's Laughter
On November 5, 2026, the Porz Community Library invites families to a special picture book cinema. Children aged 4 and up will experience an imaginative story on a big screen and then discover their own creative side through collaborative painting.
A Lively Family Experience Surrounding the Recyclosaurus
The centerpiece is the picture book The Recyclosaurus by Anka Schwelgin. The story tells of Matti, an enthusiastic dinosaur fan, whose drawn colored pencil dinosaur suddenly comes to life. The unusual dinosaur grows quickly and develops a very special appetite: it loves to eat plastic.
The child-friendly plot combines excitement, humor, and an understandable look at the topic of recycling. Children playfully encounter questions about waste, the environment, and collective action. The story inspires wonder, reflection, and storytelling.
Reading, Watching, and Getting Creative Together
In the picture book cinema, read-aloud language and large images merge into an atmospheric learning experience. Children attentively follow the storyline, recognize characters and connections, and inadvertently expand their vocabulary. The subsequent painting offers space for imagination, concentration, and personal ideas.
This combination of literary experience and creative offerings is designed for age-appropriateness. It supports linguistic development, fosters imagination, and provides families with shared time in a calm, inspiring environment.
Child-Appropriate Themes with Educational Value
The Recyclosaurus makes environmental education accessible for young children. Instead of abstract rules, they experience a story where plastic suddenly becomes a central part of the plot. This creates natural conversation opportunities about waste reduction, responsibility, and mindful interaction with the environment.
The community library creates a protected framework with a clear age indication of 4 years and up. Parents accompany their children during the family experience and jointly enjoy learning fun, curiosity, and creative joy.
Easily Accessible and Family-Friendly
The event takes place at the Porz Community Library at Alfred-Moritz-Platz 1. The library can be reached via the city train line 7 and bus lines 152, 154, 160, 161, and 162 at the Porz-Markt stop. Designated disabled parking spaces, an elevator, and information about barrier-free access support maximally accessible participation.
Conclusion: A Free Afternoon Full of Imagination
The picture book cinema combines reading aloud, large images, environmental knowledge, and creative painting into a warm family experience. Children aged 4 and up are welcome to marvel, laugh, listen, and create their own pictures. Admission is free and no registration is required. Families enjoy an engaging time in Porz filled with children's laughter, learning fun, and plenty of room for imagination.
