Game Testers: Discovering new games together

Bright screens, exciting game worlds, and curious minds: At the game testers in the Kalk district library, children and teenagers become true gaming experts. Together, they try out current computer and console games, discuss them, and evaluate their suitability for different age groups.

Fun with educational value

The family experience combines the joy of gaming with a child-friendly learning experience. Participants pay attention to what a game is about, what is especially fun, and for which age group it is suitable. In doing so, they develop their own opinions, learn to observe attentively, and communicate respectfully with others.

Assistance from a media educator

Media educator Patrick accompanies the groups, listens closely, and takes note of the assessments of the young game testers. The collected experiences, along with feedback from other groups in North Rhine-Westphalia, feed into the player guide NRW. This creates guidance for children, teenagers, and families looking for age-appropriate games.

Age-appropriate game rounds

The event is organized by age groups. Children aged 6 and up test games rated for ages 6 and up from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Teenagers aged 12 and up discover games rated for ages 12 and up from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. This clear division supports a safe, appropriate, and age-appropriate access to digital games.
