Book Gang Meeting: Read, play, and discover together in Cologne

Read together, discover, and share favorite books

At the Book Gang Meeting in the Interim Central Library Cologne, children aged 8 to 12 will experience an exciting afternoon full of books, stories, and creative reading ideas. Among favorite books, new recommendations, and joyful exchanges, a warm family experience with children's laughter, curiosity, and shared time is created.

Favorite books become little treasures

The children present their favorite books and discover what stories other reading-enthusiasts find fascinating. Conversations arise about characters, adventures, and special reading moments. This strengthens the joy of reading and simultaneously promotes expressiveness, listening, and social development.

Get creative with the participation book

Those who are already part of the Book Gang should bring their participation book to the meeting. New members will receive a copy at the meeting or can pick it up at a Cologne library. Thoughts on a read book can be written, painted, or drawn. This open design makes the learning experience child-friendly and gives each child room for their own ideas.

Play, browse, and engage in conversation

In addition to reading, playing, browsing, and chatting are on the agenda. The relaxed atmosphere supports an age-appropriate encounter and creates a safe space for children to show their interests, make new contacts, and confidently talk about books.

Reading encouragement with educational added value

The Book Gang combines joy and development: children expand their vocabulary, practice creative thinking, and learn that reading creates community. A library card is sufficient for participation. A library card that is not yet available can be applied for free of charge. The event is free, but registration through the city library's booking system is required.

Here's what visitors can expect: a child-friendly afternoon of books with favorite stories, creative participation ideas, games, and plenty of opportunities to discover. Register now and experience the next reading adventure live in Cologne.
